Chris Pratt says Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is “going to be the biggest spectacle movie of all time”

September 10, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Marvel Studios scored a major success with Guardians of the Galaxy back in 2014, with James Gunn taking the little-known property and delivering one of the most enjoyable superhero movies and summer blockbusters of recent times. Naturally, expectations for next year’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 are high, and star Chris Pratt seems confident that they’ll deliver once again, telling the Toronto Sun that “it’s going to be the biggest spectacle movie of all time.”

“I can say Guardians 2 is going to be out May 5,” said Pratt when asked about the sequel. “It’s finished and it’s going to be terrific. I’m already so proud of it. We worked really hard on it and it’s a joy to be part of. It’s a fabulous script. I think it’s going to be — I’m not using hyperbole, here – I think it’s going to be the biggest spectacle movie of all time”

Pratt was also asked about his thoughts on criticism towards the abundance of superhero movies, replying that: “I’m okay with it. I’m fortunate. I’m fortunate in so many ways. I couldn’t count the ways, even if I tried. To be part of Guardians of the Galaxy is to be part of a franchise that really is so totally different. It’s new and exciting and unlike anything people had seen before. There are a lot of superheroes out there, but I think we do something a little different. The genesis of these characters was in the Marvel Universe but we do something a little different, more cosmic, with Guardians of the Galaxy.”

Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.
