Holliday Grainger cast as female lead in BBC’s J.K. Rowling series Cormoran Strike

November 2, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Holliday Grainger (Cinderella, The Finest Hours) has secured the female lead in the BBC’s upcoming Comoran Strike series, which is based upon J.K. Rowling’s bestselling crime novels, written under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith.

The series, which will adapt The Cuckoo’s Calling, The Silkworm and Career of Evil across seven hour-long episodes, will star Tom Burke (The Musketeers, War & Peace) as war veteran turned private detective Cormoran Strike, while Grainger will play Robin Venetia Ellacott, his assistant and secretary.

“I couldn’t be more delighted about the casting of Holliday Grainger, who brought my Robin to perfect onscreen life during her audition,” said Rowling. We’ve now secured two superb actors in the lead roles and I think they will create something very special together.”

Filming is set to get underway this month.
