Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn has talked to Marvel about a Moon Knight movie

January 6, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Despite repeated – and likely speculative – rumours of a potential Netflix show, there’s been no official word from Marvel as to if and when we’ll ever see Moon Knight making his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

That being said, Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn has revealed on Twitter that he’s pitched an idea for a Moon Knight movie to Marvel Studios, although sadly he’s too busy to think about directing.

““Oh my God I love Moon Knight and I have a great idea for a movie, I just wish I had the time (but, no, he doesn’t belong in Guardians),”Gunn said on Twitter when asked about the possibility of Marc Spector appearing alongside the Guardians. “I told [Marvel]. But, like I said, I just don’t have the time.”

This isn’t the first time that Gunn has expressed an interest in another Marvel property, having revealed back in 2014 that he’d told Kevin Feige he was keen on making a Thunderbolts movie.

Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is scheduled for release on April 28th 2017 in the UK and on May 5th in the States, with director James Gunn reuniting with returning cast members Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax), Bradley Cooper (Rocket), Vin Diesel (Groot), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Michael Rooker (Yondu), Glenn Close (Nova Prime) and Sean Gunn (Kraglin) alongside new additions Pom Klementieff (Oldboy) as Mantis, Elizabeth Debicki (The Man from U.N.C.L.E.) as Ayesha, Kurt Russell (The Hateful Eight) as Ego the Living Planet, Chris Sullivan (The Drop) as Taserface and Sylvester Stallone (Creed) in as yet-unrevealed role.
