Rumour: The Batman pushed back, Justice League “a mess”

January 9, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Over the past few months, we’ve heard on several occasions from Ben Affleck that his script for The Batman is not quite ready, despite Warner Bros.’ insistence that production on the Dark Knight solo movie is set to get underway in the Spring.

Last week, Affleck suggested that he’d rather not make the movie than deliver something he’s not entirely happy with, and now comes a report that Warner Bros. has decided to push back the production, presumably to allow Affleck more time to work on the screenplay.

According to Batman-On-Film, production has been pushed back “a couple of months”, which means the film won’t start shooting until the summer at the earliest, and may even raise questions about the planned 2018 release date.

The report goes on to claim that sources have told the site that Justice League is “a mess”, and speculates that Affleck may have decided to bail on the DC Extended Universe.

If the above is true, then it’s certainly worrying for DC fans; however, this isn’t the first time we’ve had an unconfirmed rumour claiming that a DC movie being a mess (in fact, it’s starting to become par for the course), and it should also be noted that Batman-on-Film has a rather mixed track record when it come to info on the DCEU so far, so this should probably be taken with a pinch of salt.

UPDATE: Casting further doubt on the story is new comments from Ben Affleck during an interview with Fox 5 of Philadelphia, where he states “We’re good and going” with regards to The Batman. Whether that means “we’re going” in the Spring or Summer remains to be seen.

Will you be disappointed if The Batman is pushed back? Are you concerned about Justice League? Let us know your thoughts in the comments…
