Sterling K. Brown wants to play John Stewart in Green Lantern Corps

January 13, 2017 by James Garcia

Hot off the heels of the news that Man of Steel scribe David S. Goyer will be writing and producing Warner Bros.’ Green Lantern Corps film, actor Sterling K. Brown has tossed his hat into the ring to play John Stewart, a former Marine sniper who becomes a Green Lantern and teams up with Hal Jordan.

Brown, best known for his award-winning role on The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story and as one of the leads in the NBC drama This is Us, took to Twitter to announce his interest in the role:

Dear powers that be, if you are looking for someone to play John Stewart, I humbly submit my name. Namaste🙏🏿 #GreenLanternCorps https://t.co/1DTshcKS5M

— Sterling K Brown (@SterlingKBrown) January 13, 2017

This isn’t the first time Brown has been interested in a role in a comic book adaptation. Just last week, he joined the cast of Marvel’s Black Panther as N’Jobu, “a figure from T’Challa aka Black Panther’s past.” There likely wouldn’t be much conflict if Brown here to in fact get his wish and play Stewart, since Green Lantern Corps isn’t expected into theaters until at least 2020.

Would you like to see Brown in the role of John Stewart?
