Original ending for Jurassic Park revealed through newly-discovered storyboards

February 1, 2017 by Samuel Brace

With the Jurassic Park franchise being back in the news lately with some casting on the Jurassic World sequel, the dino saga is once again at the forefront of people’s minds. And now, with the reveal of the first film’s original ending, that isn’t about to change

We all know Steven Spielberg’s 1993 classic. We remember all the details; the park, the scared kids, that T-Rex, the raptors, Jeff Goldblum. It’s iconic at this point and not many would change a thing about it. But that’s just what happened back in the 90s when the ending was changed to what we see in the actual movie.

Thanks to storyboards revealed by Jurassic Time, we now know that our favourite raptor heroes weren’t much involved with the infamous T-Rex climatic battle. In fact, they weren’t involved at all.

The scene in the visitor centre doesn’t appear in this original version. Events now occur in the guise of a speeding car and helicopter, as our heroes attempt to fly away from the charging T-Rex. The villain has different ideas however, as the creature snaps at the helicopter, taking a piece of it with her. The chopper eventually gets away however so no harm is done.

The uncovered storyboard is shown below…

It certainly sounds exciting, though I don’t think many would swap out the classic scene we found in its place.
