Mark Wahlberg being eyed for The Six Million Dollar Man?

July 5, 2014 by Gary Collinson

Having taken on the lead in the Transformers series with Transformers: Age of Extinction, it’s being reported that Mark Wahlberg is now being eyed for another potential franchise, with Tracking Board claiming that Wahlberg could be in line for a reunion with Lone Survivor director Peter Berg on an adaptation of the 70s TV series The Six Million Dollar Man.

Universal Pictures is behind this latest attempt at bringing former astronaut turned bionic man Steve Austin to the big screen, with Berg attached in a producing capacity as well as potentially directing. Previous attempts at a Six Million Dollar Man movie include a script from Kevin Smith (Clerks) which was rumoured to have Chris Rock (Dogma) in contention for the role made famous by Lee Majors, while Jim Carrey and Leonardo DiCaprio were both reportedly attached to various projects over the past decade.

The Six Million Dollar Man began in 1973 with a trilogy of TV movies, before launching as a regular series for five seasons between 1974 and 1978. It spawned a spin-off series, The Bionic Woman, in 1976, while Majors would return to the role of Steve Austin alongside Lindsay Wagner’s Bionic Woman for three made-for-television reunion movies in 1987,  1989 and 1994.
