Rumour: Matthew Vaughn in talks to direct Man of Steel 2

March 13, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Last year it was reported that Warner Bros. was quietly developing a sequel to Man of Steel, and now according to Collider, the studio is in early talks with director Matthew Vaughn with a view to him tackling the second solo movie for Henry Cavill’s Superman.

The site suggests that even if Vaughn – whose previous movies include the comic book adaptations Kick-Ass, X-Men: First Class and Kingsman: The Secret Service – passes on Man of Steel 2, the studio is keen to die him down for another DC superhero movie.

Vaughn and Kick-Ass and Kingsman creator Mark Millar had previously pitched a take on Superman to Warner Bros. before Zack Snyder was brought on board to launch the DC Extended Universe.

At the time, Vaughn shared his thoughts on how he’d approach the Man of Steel, stating that: “I think that’s the one thing not to do with Superman, trying to do the serious The Dark Knight version. Superman is about color and fun, or it should be, for me.”

Would you like to see Matthew Vaughn taking on the reins of a Superman movie? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…
