Netflix to co-produce BBC thriller Requiem

March 22, 2017 by Samuel Brace

Streaming giants Netflix are jumping on board with the BBC to co-produce their new psychological thriller TV series Requiem.

The team up, confirmed by Variety, will see them producing a six part television series written created by Kris Mrksa of The Slap and Underbelly fame.

The show will be produced by New Pictures whose credits include serial killer thriller Rellik and The Missing, which is a child abduction story.

The story for Requiem begins in 1994 when a young child dies in a Welsh village. Decades later, a young woman is mysteriously drawn to the same village after her mother commits suicide.

Shooting for Requiem begins in Wales next week; the show will be directed by Mahalia Belo (Ellen) and the cast includes Lydia Wilson (Star Trek Beyond), Joel Fry (Game of Thrones), Tara Fitzgerald (Game of Thrones) and James Frecheville (Animal Kingdom).
