Pharrell Williams musical biopic in development

March 30, 2017 by Gary Collinson

THR is reporting that 20th Century Fox has snapped up a pitch for a musical film inspired by the early years of musical Pharrell Williams.

Entitled Atlantis, the film will be helmed by Broadway director Michael Mayer (Spring Awakening, American Idiot), with Williams producing and Martin Hynes (Toy Story 4) penning the script.

According to the site, Atlantis is described as “a Romeo and Juliet style story (with a music element) inspired by Williams’ childhood in Virginia Beach, Va.”

Williams recently produced the acclaimed Hidden Figures, along with the hip hop biopic Roxanne Roxanne.
