George R.R. Martin to produce adaptation of Who Fears Death for HBO

July 11, 2017 by Samuel Brace

Who Fears Death is to be adapted for television by HBO and executive produced by George R.R. Martin.

The cable television network is keeping the Game of Thrones author busy these days, lining him up to oversee a new fantasy project for the company.

Hoping that this will be another fantasy/drama hit for the channel, Who Fears Death is a series by author Nnedi Okorafor about post-apocalyptic Africa, an enslaved tribe, and a girl that develops magical powers – then discovering that she is being targeted by a powerful force that wants her dead.

The announcement came via the author’s Twitter which said: “My novel WHO FEARS DEATH has been optioned by @HBO & is now in early development as a TV series with George RR Martin as executive producer.”

Martin is heavily involved in the planned Game of Thrones’ spinoffs currently in development for HBO, and has also had his novella Nightflyers picked up for a pilot by Syfy.
