Legendary adapting Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus

July 17, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Variety is reporting that Legendary Entertainment has picked up the rights to John Gray’s bestselling self help book Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus, and is planning to develop two movies – one that appeals to Western audiences, and one for the Chinese market.

Published in 1992, Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus: A Practical Guide for Improving Communication and Getting What You Want in Your Relationships became the bestselling hardcover book of the 90s, and discusses psychological differences between the sexes using the common metaphor that the title describes, that men and women are from different planets.

There have been numerous attempts to bring the book to the screen over the years, most recently under Lionsgate, although the rights reverted back to Gray earlier this year. Gray is on board to produce with Legendary, and the search is now underway for a writer to try and crack the story.
