Casting is underway on the rebooted third season of Scream: The TV Series, with THR reporting that rappers and actors Tyga (Dope) and C.J. Wallace (Notorious) have signed on as series regulars in the MTV show.
The third season of Scream has a new showrunner in Brett Matthews (The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural), who is executive producing alongside Queen Latifah, and is set to revolve around Deion Elliot, “a local star running back whose tragic past comes back to haunt him at the worst time, threatening his hard-earned plans for his future — and the lives of his unlikely group of friends.”
Tyga will play Deion’s step brother Jamal, who “despite hanging out with a rough crowd, has got a big heart and an undying loyalty to Deion.” Wallace meanwhile will portray Amir, “a good kid whose strict parents expect him to keep clean during high school, stay away from girls and ultimately find his place within the family business. Amir is a socially awkward savant who dreams of making music one day, an ambition he must stifle and keep to himself. But when events make him the unexpected target of a killer, Amir finds himself in over his head and his worldview challenged. Facing death makes Amir reconsider what he wants for his life and the lengths he’s willing to go to find his identity and chase his dreams — should he survive.”
The third season of Scream will consist of six episodes, which are set to be broadcast over three nights in March 2018.
