NYCC: Carrie Fisher’s final Family Guy episode will air in November, details revealed

October 10, 2017 by Justin Cook

During the Family Guy panel at New York Comic Con, moderator and show writer/executive producer Cherry Chevapravatdumrong treated the thousands of fans in attendance to a special screening of the upcoming season 16 episode “Three Directors,” which, as it turns out, features the last of Carrie Fisher’s voice work for the show.

Fisher, who passed away toward the end of last year at the age 60, joined the Family Guy cast in the 2005 and ever since has consistently lent her voice to the character of Angela, Peter Griffin’s supervisor at the Pawtucket Brewery. Including “Three Directors,” Fisher has appeared in a total of 24 Family Guy episodes, by far the most amount of appearances she’s made on a single TV show throughout her career.

Not only did audience members take notice of Carrie Fisher’s voice in the episode, but they also applauded when the late Adam West’s Mayor Adam West appeared on screen. West, who passed away in June, will be heard in several more episodes over the course of the season.

On Fisher and West, executive producer Richard Appel shared, “That will be Carrie’s last episode, but not Adam West. She was obviously in that last scene, and the last direction that we were able to give her was ‘it’s a deep French kiss with Peter Griffin, and just go wild.’ She was as game for this episode as she was over the many years, and Adam West too. And we’re gonna have a farewell for Carrie coming up not too long from now, and Adam West will be a little further down the road, because he’s going to appear in many episodes this coming season.”

Fellow executive producer Alec Sulkin chimed in, “He’ll still make you laugh this year.”

No more details were given on Fisher’s “farewell,” although the show did pay tribute to her with an “In Loving Memory” title card before last season’s “Passenger Fatty-Seven” episode. For West, a 9-minute reel of his best moments on the show was released a few weeks after his passing.

“Three Directors,” which will air in November, is split up into three segments and imagines how three A-list Hollywood directors, Quentin Tarantino, Wes Anderson and Michael Bay, would tell the same basic story – Peter Griffin getting fired from his job. Angela terminates Peter’s employment, which sends him, his family and his friends into a number of scenarios that poke fun at the works of the aforementioned directors.

The latest season of the long-running Fox comedy began earlier this month and has already brought in such guest stars as Louis C.K., Bill Maher, Julie Bowen and more.

Family Guy airs every Thursday at 10pm on Fox UK.
