Evil is Better update now available for Galactic Civilizations III

October 15, 2017 by Andrew Newton

Another update has arrived for Stardock’s massive turn based space strategy game, Galactic Civilizations III and its Crusade expansion and just like the previous updates continues to expand and enhance the game for everyone who plays.  Update 2.6 ‘Evil is Better’ improves trade routes, updates colony events and reworks the Malevolent Ideology tree.  Watch the new trailer below for more on this update….

In update 2.6 Trade routes have been altered to decrease the amount of money that players can get from them but, before you tear your hair out, the amount of trade routes a player can have has been substantially increased.  This means that trade routes can be made further out into the galaxy to create the perfect trade empire.

A majority of Colonisation Events are being updated to allow ‘evil’ choices to be more profitable for players, this now means being evil can be just as rewarding as being good or just sitting on the fence.

Players who prefer to use their own custom faction will now be able to use them in multiplayer games allowing that bit more of a personal approach to conquering the galaxy.  Those players that prefer to use the game’s pre-made civilisations will still be able to do so.

The Evil is Better update features:

Galactic Civilizations III + Crusade:

•  Updated colonisation events
•  Increased number of allowed trade routes
•  Custom factions now available in multiplayer mode
•  Mercenaries have been updated to balance recent economy updates
•  Balance updates
•  Quality of life improvements

Crusade only:

•  Free citizen at the start of the game
•  New mission in the shipyard for harvesting Aurorus Trees
•  The Malevolent ideology now gives a bonus in negotiations

“We made a lot of adjustments in v2.6,” said Wardell, “but one of the biggest things I wanted to adjust was the profitability of making “evil” choices. We worked on a lot of the colony events to make sure that those options had as much benefit or disadvantage as the pragmatic or benevolent choices did.”

Update 2.6 ‘Evil is Better’ is available now.
