Mark Ruffalo to produce and star in HBO’s I Know This Much Is True adaptation

October 19, 2017 by Ricky Church

Mark Ruffalo has a new project lined up with HBO. After its success of their adaptation of Big Little Lies, the network will work on another adaptation, this time on the 1998 novel I Know This Much Is True by Wally Lamb, Deadline reports. Ruffalo will not only star in the miniseries, but produce it as well.

I Know This Much Is True is an eight-episode miniseries that will be written and directed by Blue Valentine’s Derek Cianfrance. Ruffalo will play dual roles as a pair of twins throughout their lives. The book’s plot is described as “an epic family saga that explores the American identity following the parallel lives of twin brothers Dominick and Thomas Birdsey throughout the latter half of the 20th century.”

No word on when the miniseries will enter production, but this marks Ruffalo’s return to HBO since he starred in and co-executive produced HBO’s The Normal Heart. Ruffalo will next be seen reprising his role as Bruce Banner/The Hulk in next month’s Thor: Ragnarok.
