Carmen Ejogo to star alongside Mahershala Ali in True Detective Season 3

November 18, 2017 by Matt Rodgers

While most people lost interest in the sprawling narrative of True Detective sophomore run, there’s enough goodwill left in the brand from the incredible debut season to ensure that a third instalment of Nic Pizzolatto’s crime anthology is something to get excited about.

Already we had the news that Moonlight Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali was signed on, and now The Hollywood Reporter is confirming Alien: Covenant and Selma star Carmen Ejogo as the lead actress.

The third season will focus on a crime in the heart of the Ozarks, with the mystery playing out in three separate time periods. Ejogo will play an Arkansas schoolteacher with a connection to two missing children in the 80s. Ali is playing a character named Wayne Hays, a state police detective from Northwest Arkansas.

Does this suggest that Ali’s detective will be a lone investigator, or are you still hoping he’ll be paired with another big-name star?
