During the New York Comic Con, The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman revealed that a crossover between the main series and its companion show Fear the Walking Dead was in the pipeline, with one character set to switch between shows.
Well, on last night’s episode of The Talking Dead, it was announced that Lennie James’ Morgan Jones will be leaving the main show and moving across to Fear for its fourth season. James has wrapped filming on The Walking Dead, and will start work on the spinoff this coming week.
“Morgan’s arc in The Walking Dead season eight positioned him for the story on Fear the Walking Dead,” read a statement from TWD showrunner Scott M. Gimple. “It was also important to see Fear’s world and characters through new, yet familiar eyes.”
“From the very first moment the whole suggestion of Morgan going over to Fear the Walking Dead, the hardest part of that, from beginning to now, has been leaving The Walking Dead,” said James. “Leaving that cast, leaving that crew. I’ve said my goodbyes to the cast and I’ve said my goodbyes to the crew… That show stands or falls on the back of that crew. And I’m going to miss them very much.”

Season four of Fear the Walking Dead will see the arrival of Andrew Chambliss and Ian Goldberg (Once Upon a Time) as showrunners following the departure of co-creator Dave Erickson. Other casting additions include Garret Dillahunt and Jenna Elfman, both of whom have joined as series regulars.
