Square Enix announces new Tomb Raider video game

December 10, 2017 by Gary Collinson

In addition to the upcoming big screen reboot starring Alicia Vikander, it seems that Tomb Raider fans have a new game to look forward to in 2018, with Square Enix sharing the following post to its Facebook page:

“Square Enix is excited to share some big news with you next year. Honestly, we wish we could share it with you right now, but were taking a new approach this time. A new Tomb Raider game is coming. Driven by our goal of putting our fans first, we want you to know that it won’t be very long between the official reveal and when you can play. Our journey together will begin with a major event in 2018. We simply can’t wait to take you on Lara Croft’s defining adventure.”

The Tomb Raider series was rebooted to much critical acclaim in 2013, and was followed by the sequel Rise of the Tomb Raider in 2015. While a title is yet to be announced for the new game, previous rumours have suggested that it will be called Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
