BBC and Netflix release first look at new series Troy: Fall of a City

December 22, 2017 by Samuel Brace

A first glimpse at Troy: Fall of a City, a new TV drama by the BBC and Netflix, has been revealed.

There’s been a rich history of prestige TV collaborations across the Atlantic and the latest looks to be a new sword and sandals epic by the BBC and Netflix.

Troy: Fall of a City has been filmed in Cape Town, South Africa and stars David Threfall (Shamless) and David Gyasi (Interstellar).

Gyasi will be playing Achilles (pictured below) in the eight part series which BBC drama head Piers Wenger said (via Variety) “will be like nothing broadcast before: a 3,000-year-old tale crafted on a huge scale.”

The story will be told from the point of view of the Trojan royal family as the famous siege of their city unfolds.

In the image below you can see a first look at Louis Hunter and Bella Dayne as Paris and Helen, the two lovers who were the catalyst for the war between Greece and Troy.

The BBC will air Troy: Fall of a City in the UK and Netflix will stream internationally.
