Solo: A Star Wars Story reportedly scheduled for more reshoots

January 9, 2018 by Samuel Brace

According to an unconfirmed claim, Solo: A Star Wars Story will be undergoing more reshoots in January.

The production issues that have plagued the Han Solo spin off movie are well known at this point, particularly how Ron Howard came in late in the day to replace the film’s original directors, reportedly reshooting much of the film in the process.

The film is set for release this May and while fans are awaiting news of a trailer, a Reddit user (named Hufflepuffins) who has a history of correct reports regarding Solo, has posted that more reshoots are scheduled for the end of January.

While this might sound worrying (if true) on the surface of things, reshoots at this stage aren’t all that uncommon, with the process allowing directors to get some extra shots they need before locking the film down.

So it would seem that a set of pick-ups for Solo would be the most obvious explanation for the reshoots, perhaps there is a scene that Howard doesn’t quite have right, much like how The Last Jedi and The Force Awakens both had to return to set for a few extra shots.

And for those worried that Solo isn’t finished yet so close to release, J.J. Abrams hadn’t finalised The Force Awakens until one month before the film’s December 2015 premiere.
