David Mazouz says The Joker is coming to Gotham, but it isn’t Jerome

January 28, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Since his very first appearance in the first season, it seemed that – despite the protestations of the producers to the contrary – that Gotham was positioning Cameron Monaghan’s Jerome Valeska as the show’s version of The Joker.

Well, it seems that really may not be the case after all, as young actor David Mazouz has told Discussing Film that the Clown Prince of Crime is coming to the series, but it’s not going to be Jerome.

“He is not the Joker, that’s all I’m saying,” states Mazouz. “He is definitely the inspiration for the Joker and the way that the Joker comes into the show is, in my opinion, one of the most brilliant things Gotham has ever done.”

Meanwhile, Mazouz also commented on a recent tweet from Monaghan which featured a panel from Batman: The Long Halloween depicting The Joker, The Penguin, Poison Ivy, Catwoman, The Scarecrow, The Mad Hatter and Solomon Grundy, stating that:

“Oh yeah, that basically is the second half of Season 4. Essentially all of the villains on the show, all the terrifying ones at least, will team up. It will basically be the Justice League of Gotham villains. They’re gonna basically terrorize the city over the next 11 episodes.”

Gotham is currently on its midseason break and will return on March 1st.
