Coco passes $700 million at the worldwide box office

February 5, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Fresh from its success at the 2018 Annie Awards where it took home eleven gongs, Disney-Pixar’s latest animated feature Coco has now hit a new box office milestone, with the film passing $700 million worldwide.

Coco has grossed $204.6 million domestically, with a further $496.3 million from international markets, for $700.9 million to date. That makes it Pixar’s seventh movie to cross the $700 million mark at the global box office, and it currently sits just $34 million short of Up and $43 million behind Monsters University.

Despite his family’s baffling generations-old ban on music, Miguel (voice of newcomer Anthony Gonzalez) dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz (voice of Benjamin Bratt). Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead following a mysterious chain of events. Along the way, he meets charming trickster Hector (voice of Gael García Bernal), and together, they set off on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel’s family history.
