The LEGO Movie is getting a LEGO Batman spin-off

October 10, 2014 by Alfie Nobes

After the success of Warner Bros.’ The LEGO Movie, it was only a matter of time until a sequel and / or spinoffs were put into development. Sure enough, The LEGO Movie 2 was announced for 2017, and now it has been revealed that a spin-off centred on the character of Batman is also in the making. Will Arnett will be taking on the voice of the Caped Crusader once again and Chris McKay will be sitting in the chair for the spinoff, having originally been attached to The LEGO Movie sequel

A LEGO Batman movie was always the most obvious choice for a spinoff – the franchise already features three video games and a straight-to-DVD movie featuring Troy Baker as Batman.  And of course there’s the fact that Batman was one of the most hilarious and likable characters in the original LEGO Movie.

THR reports that Warner Bros. are looking at a release date for around 2017 and could potential swap the LEGO Batman spinoff with the original date for the LEGO Movie sequel.  If you don’t want to wait untill 2017 for more LEGO madness, Ninjago is set to hit the big screen in September 2016.
