Jon M. Chu open to a Dolph Lundgren cameo in Masters of the Universe

March 19, 2013 by admin

Following the release of the action sequel G.I. Joe: Retaliation this month, director Jon M. Chu will turn his attention to another classic 80s action figure line as he heads to Eternia for the long–in-development Masters of the Universe reboot.

The new movie will be the second time that He-Man has made it to the big screen, with Dolph Lundgren headlining the 1987 live-action adaptation, and now Chu has revealed he’s open to Lundgren appearing in a cameo in the new movie.

“I don’t know if Dolph Lundgren is around or what he’s doing but, yeah, I think that could be some fun if we could find a way [to include him],” Chu tells Getty Images Entertainment (via SuperHeroHype). “I hope he still has the loin cloth and the long hair and everything.”

Lundgren is of course “still around”, having recently appeared as Gunnar Jensen in both The Expendables and The Expendables 2, as well as a steady flow of direct-to-video actioners such as Stash House, One in the Chamber, Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning and The Package. Meanwhile, Lundgren has already expressed an interest in appearing in the reboot, telling IGN last year that he’d be open to playing He-Man’s – or rather Prince Adam’s – daddy, King Randor. So, let’s make it happen!
