Transformers: Age of Extinction star reportedly cast in Star Wars: Episode VII

February 18, 2014 by admin

Now, at this point we’re all a little jaded with Star Wars: Episode VII casting rumours, what with virtually every name in Hollywood linked to the film at one point or another. But, with filming set for May, we’re going to have to tough it through another couple of months as director J.J. Abrams assembles his cast for this latest trek to a galaxy far, far away (hey, at least we’ll have some official news too, assuming Lucasfilm isn’t planning on doing away with actors entirely and going full CG!).

Well, we’ve got another name for you now, with Harry Knowles of Aint It Cool News reporting that two sources have told him young Irish actor Jack Reynor – star of the upcoming Transformers: Age of Extinction – has been cast in the film in an as-yet-unspecified role. Now, bear in mind that Yoda was still a Padawan the last time Harry delivered a genuine scoop, so I’d suggest taking this one with a pinch of salt until we get something official.

Star Wars: Episode VII is set for release on December 17th 2015. So far, no one is attached to the cast although it’s expected that Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher will reprise their roles as Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia. Meanwhile, other names who’ve been linked to the film include Saoirse Ronan, Jesse Plemons, Zac Efron, Benedict Cumberbatch, Michael B. Jordan, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Michael Fassbender, Hugo Weaving, Adam Driver, Matt Smith, Jason Flemyng and Judi Dench.
