Alan Tudyk set for mystery role in James Gunn’s Superman

September 29, 2024 by Gary Collinson

Although filming on James Gunn’s Superman wrapped back in July, Deadline has revealed another cast member for the DC Universe reboot with Alan Tudyk set to appear in a mystery role.

Tudyk already has one role in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DC Universe, portraying the character of Doctor Phosphorus in the upcoming animated series Creature Commandos. It’s possible he’s reprising that role for a live-action cameo, although he could also be taking a leaf of out his Creature Commandos co-star Sean Gunn’s book, with Gunn set to play the character of Maxwell Lord in Superman in addition to his voice roles in the animated series as Weasel and G.I. Robot.

The actor is becoming quite the DC regular, having previously voiced characters across numerous projects including Justice League: War, Harley Quinn, Young Justice and Batman: The Brave and the Bold, as well as appearing in the live-action series Doom Patrol and the workplace comedy Powerless.

Superman tells the story of Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice, and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.

Superman stars David Corenswet as Superman/Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern/Guy Gardner, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, María Gabriela De Faría as The Engineer, Sean Gunn as Maxwell Lord, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Milly Alcock as Supergirl, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard, Mikaela Hoover as Cat Grant, Christopher McDonald as Ron Troupe and Pruitt Taylor Vince and Neva Howell as Jonathan and Martha Kent.

Superman will be released on July 11th, 2025.
