Commodore International is making its first foray into games publishing by announcing the upcoming release of Alien Breed 35th Anniversary Collection. This compilation will feature all six Alien Breed games originally built for Commodore’s Amiga computers and will be coming to PC, Xbox, and PlayStation on 24th September and the Nintendo Switch at a later date. When Alien Breed first hit the shelves in 1991, it became one of the Amiga’s most beloved titles and set Team17 up as one of the more inventive studios. After this initial success, 5 more Alien Breed titles were released, making it one of the system’s most favourite franchises. The 35th Anniversary Collection brings all six of these games to modern consoles and computers for the first time. The games included are: Alien Breed (1991), Alien Breed: Special Edition (1992), Alien Breed II: The Horror Continues (1993, ECS and AGA versions included), Alien Breed: Tower Assault (1994, Amiga and CD32 versions included), Alien Breed 3D (1995, CD32 version), and Alien Breed 3D II: TKG (1996).
Each game in the collection has been faithfully recreated from the original release on the Commodore Amiga, but with the addition of a series of features that will make it easier for gamers on modern systems, such as the option for dual-stick control mapping, instant save states, retro screen filters, rumble feedback, and peer-to-peer online co-op in supporting titles.
Players will be able to switch between a modern 16:9 screen or opt for the classic 4:3 aspect ratio and even get that more authentic 90s feel with professional-grade Scanlines, CRT TV, and “Mega CRT” filters.
The collection also features an in-universe digital archive that gives players the chance to learn more about the history of the franchise, including exclusive developer interviews and retrospective videos from the original team.
The Alien Breed 35th Anniversary Collection will be available on 24th September on Steam, GOG, Xbox, PlayStation, and Epic Games Store, with Nintendo Switch to follow at a later date.
