Another report suggests the budget for Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War is an astronomical $1 billion

March 2, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Way back in October of 2015, it was reported that Marvel had put aside a whopping $1 billion production budget for the then-titled Avengers: Infinity War – Part I and Part II, and now some comments from Pinewood Studios appears to have corroborated that astronomical figure.

Speaking at the African American Film Critics Association luncheon, Pinewood Atlanta Studios co-owner Dan Cathy announced that: “We now have on the lot down there now the largest film production ever with a $1 billion budget.”

Cathy didn’t name the production, but seeing as Infinity War is currently shooting at Pinewood Atlanta, it seems pretty clear which project he is referring to.

One would have to assume that Cathy is referring to both Avengers: Infinity War and the untitled Avengers 4, seeing as both are shooting back-to-back. Nevertheless, even with a $500 million budget apiece, that shattered the previous record for the most expensive movie ever made – a title currently held by Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides with $378.5 million.

Marvel does currently hold the record for the most expensive superhero movie ever made, with Avengers: Age of Ultron’s budget a reported $280 million.
