Antonia Banderas has signed on for the lead role in the upcoming biopic on Ferruccio Lamborghini, creator of the famous car. Alec Baldwin, meanwhile, will star as Lamborghini’s business rival, Enzo Ferrari. The Merchant of Venice‘s Michael Radford will direct the film from a script by Million Dollar Baby’s Bobby Moresco under the working title Lamborghini – The Legend.
The film will cover the life of the famous entrepreneur, from his beginnings manufacturing tractors to military vehicles to the sports car with an eye for how his business helped Italy in the post-war years. The film is based on the biography Ferruccio Lamborghini. La storia ufficiale (The Official Story) written by Lamborghini’s son, Tonino Lamborghini. It will be produced by the Ambi Group’s Andrea Iervolino and Monika Bacardi.
“The life and story of Ferruccio Lamborghini is potently epic in so many ways,” said Iervolino. “”he screenplay that Bobby penned is a true masterpiece that reflects this story and now Antonio, Alec and Michael will bring it to life in a way only they can — original, sexy and universally commercial.”

There is a particularly fascinating, but lesser-known private life of Lamborghini, and a beautiful love story that will be fun to see brought to life by Antonio.”
Tonino Lamborghini also echoed their excitement for the biopic of his father, stating “My book Ferruccio Lamborghini. La storia ufficiale (The Official Story) is the only text perfectly respectful of the real life of my father, despite of numerous legends and anecdotes written or told by other people looking for a moment of celebrity. I really believe this film can translate into images and words the great humanity of Ferruccio and transmit to the viewers worldwide my father’s personality: a man full of energy, charisma and passion.”
