Arnold Schwarzenegger becomes President in first look at Kung Fury 2

September 16, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Current law prevents Arnold Schwarzenegger from ever achieving the pinnacle of his political career by becoming the President of the United States, but those rules don’t apply in the world of David Sandberg’s Kung Fury, and so the action icon has now shared the first image from the big screen follow-up to the 2015 viral short film which shows him as the cigar-chomping Commander-in-Chief of the hotly-anticipated Kung Fury 2.

“I met David Sandberg four years ago, right after I saw the original Kung Fury,” said Schwarzenegger. “I absolutely loved it and could not stop laughing so I had to meet him. Now we are finally in Munich shooting. I just had to share with you guys, because I’m so proud of him for making his hilarious vision into a reality. For those of you who want to get into the movies, he’s proof that if you have the vision and you work non-stop and keep hustling away, you can do it.”

The official synopsis for Kung Fury 2 reads:

“1985 Miami is kept safe under the watchful eye of Kung Fury and his Thundercops, the ultimate police force assembled from across history to defeat the villainous Kung Fuhrer, Adolf Hitler. After the tragic death of a Thundercop sees the group disband, a mysterious villain emerges from the shadows to aid in the Fuhrer’s quest to attain the ultimate weapon. Kung Fury must travel through space and time to save his friends, defend the prestigious Miami Kung Fu Academy and defeat evil once and for all.”

Kung Fury 2 will see Sandberg reprising his role as Kung Fury, with Schwarzenegger joined in the cast by Michael Fassbender as Fury’s partner Colt Magnum, Alexandra Shipp as reporter Rey Porter, David Hasselhoff as the voice of the transforming car Hoff 9000, Leopold NIlsson as computer whizz Hackerman, Eleni Young as the wolf-riding, magnum-wielding Viking warrior Barbarianna, and Jorma Taccone as Adolf Hitler.
