Atomfall’s The Red Strain DLC releases a deadly new virus into the Quarantine Zone

September 16, 2025 by Andrew Newton

There’s a new danger in the Quarantine Zone as Rebellion releases the new DLC The Red Strain for Atomfall. This new story expansion introduces a new in-game location, new characters, weapons, leads, and more to Atomfall’s main story.  Watch the new trailer below to see more of this growing threat.

This new expansion takes the action to a new in-game location called Test Site Moriah, a secret research site built by B.A.R.D. away from the prying eyes of locals. The location, once an old missile testing facility, has always been shrouded in mystery, but when the quarantine came into effect, something changed inside. Now, the security of the secret facility has been compromised, and from out of the network of underground labs and bunkers comes a deadly red virus.

It’s up to players to investigate the facility, uncover the secrets hidden within, and finally get some answers. However, new dangers await, with fearsome new enemies made more powerful by the Red Strain virus.

To fight these new enemies, players can expand their arsenal with suppressed weapons, plus there’s new robotic weaponry to take over when there’s a need for extra firepower.

Atomfall’s The Red Strain is available now on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC via Steam, and the Epic Games Store.
