The Autopsy of Jane Doe director replaces Guillermo del Toro on Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark

December 10, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Last January it was announced that Guillermo del Toro had signed on to develop and potentially direct an adaptation of Alvin Schwartz’s book trilogy Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark for CBS Films.

Well, as is often the case with del Toro, the filmmaker has passed on directing, with Andre Ovredal (Trollhunters, The Autopsy of Jane Doe) signing on as his replacement. Del Toro remains involved as a producer alongside Sean Daniel, Jason Brown and Elizabeth Grave.

The latest draft of the script has been penned by Kevin Hageman and Dan Hageman (The LEGO Movie), and follows a group of young teens who must solve the mystery surrounding sudden and macabre deaths in their small town. Filming is slated to begin in the summer.
