Bad Boys spin-off L.A.’s Finest given straight-to-series order from Spectrum

June 27, 2018 by Ricky Church

The Bad Boys television spin-off L.A.’s Finest has not only found itself a home, but has been given a straight-to-series order from Charter Communications on their Spectrum network. The series stars Gabrielle Union (Being Mary Jane), returning to the Bad Boys franchise as she reprises her role of Syd Burnett from Bad Boys II alongside Jessica Alba (Mechanic: Resurrection) as a pair of reluctant partners on Los Angeles.

L.A.’s Finest follows Syd Burnett (Union), last seen in Miami taking down a drug cartel, who has left her complicated past behind to become an LAPD detective. Paired with a new partner, Nancy McKenna (Alba), a working mom with an equally complex past, Syd is pushed to examine whether her unapologetic lifestyle might be masking a greater personal secret. These two women don’t agree on much, but they find common ground when it comes to taking on the most dangerous criminals in Los Angeles in this character-driven drama.

Also starring in the series is Ernie Hudson (Ghostbusters) as Joseph Burnett, Zack Gilford (Good Girls) as Ben Walker, Duane Martin (The Paul Reiser Show) as Ben Baines and Ryan McPartlin (Chuck) as Patrick McKenna. L.A.’s Finest comes from Sony Television, Jerry Bruckheimer Television and 2.0 Entertainment

“Charter has a strong passion for the project and we could not be more excited,” said Jeff Frost, President of Sony Pictures Television. “Immediately we knew this innovative new platform was absolutely the right home for L.A.’s Finest.”

“Charter is excited to partner with top producers Sony, Bruckheimer and the rest of the incredible team behind and in front of the camera on our first Spectrum Original Content endeavor. Our content partnerships offer us a great opportunity to provide Spectrum customers with the dynamic, authentic and unique programming that drives value for their Spectrum subscription,” added Katherine Pope, Senior Vice President of Head of Original Content at Charter Communications.

L.A’s Finest will premiere in 2019.
