Benedict Cumberbatch stars in The Thing with Feathers trailer

October 1, 2025 by Ricky Church

Benedict Cumberbatch’s next film The Thing with Feathers has been given a release date in November. The psychological drama from director Dylan Southern and is based on Max Porter’s 2015 novella.

The film sees Cumberbatch as a grieving husband left to raise to his two sons, but his depression and grief creates an image of a man-like crow that continually haunts him as his mental state spirals out of control. Watch the trailer below…

Left to raise two young sons after the unexpected death of his wife, Dad’s life begins to unravel. Grief is messy and chaotic enough as it is, but when it takes the form of an unhinged and unwanted house guest – Crow – taunting him from the shadows, things start to spiral out of control…but maybe that’s exactly what Dad needs.

Southern directs from a script he wrote and Cumberbatch will serve as an executive producer. The Thing with Feathers is produced by Briarcliff Entertainment. Starring alongside Cumberbatch is David Thewlis (Kaos) Jessie Cave (Harry Potter), Sam Spruell (The Gold), Leo Bill (Foundation), Vinette Robinson (The Lazarus Project), Garry Cooper (Gangs of London), Tim Plester (After Life), Richard Boxall Henry Boxall.

The Thing with Feathers will premiere on November 28th.
