Better Call Saul showrunner teases tragic final season

June 24, 2020 by Samuel Brace

Peter Gould, the showrunner and co-creator of Better Call Saul, has teased the final season is going in a sad direction for Jimmy and Kim.

Much like it’s predecessor Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul has been chronicling the fall of its title character across its run. Better Call Saul has also been setting up the corruption of Jimmy’s now-wife Kim, encapsulated with a dark turn for the character in season five’s finale.

According to showrunner Peter Gould, the sixth and final season of the show isn’t going to get any better for the characters, teasing to Deadline that “sadness” is in their future:

“We have a lot of ideas about where Jimmy and Kim are going. There’s some ideas which I am so excited about, but there is also a lot of sadness to where this is going.”

We know that Jimmy ends up in a dark place after the events of Breaking Bad but watching him get there and seeing what will become of him in future events isn’t going to be easy. And with Kim, her fate is a mystery to all… hopefully it won’t be too long before we find out.
