Black Mirror season 5 pushed back due to Bandersnatch

January 3, 2019 by Gary Collinson

It looks like fans of Black Mirror will have a little longer to wait for the fifth season of the anthology show, as creator and writer Charlie Brooker has revealed to THR that the next batch of episodes have been pushed back due to the recently-released interactive movie Black Mirror: Bandersnatch.

“We knew going into it that it would be difficult and challenging and more complicated than a normal film that we would do,” said Brooker. “Even then, we underestimated. As the story expanded, I like to say that the story got longer and it got wider. So the whole thing started expanding a bit like an inflatable life raft in a small room. We knew going into it that this would impact our time, but it hasn’t stopped us from doing other films. I think it’s fair to say that it took us more time and effort than we had initially anticipated.”

At this point, it’s unclear as to when we can expect the next season of Black Mirror, although Netflix has confirmed that they will hit the streaming service at some point during 2019.
