Blade Runner 2049 loses big, Wonder Woman 2 in trouble, Black Widow movie will happen and more – Weekend News Roundup

November 13, 2017 by admin

BLADE RUNNER 2049 LOSES BIG

Sometimes a movie can get the best reviews and great word of mouth, but it doesn’t connect with an audience. That was the story of 2017’s Blade Runner 2049, which grossed just over $240 million worldwide. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie needed to make at least $400 million globally in order to break even, which means Alcon Entertainment and the film’s investors are looking at a loss of around $80 million. SON OF DRAGO

Speaking of old franchises with recent sequels, the Sylvester Stallone directed Creed 2 will begin production in the new year and MMA star Sage Northcutt has revealed that he’s auditioned to play the son of Ivan Drago in the movie. Dolph Lundgren has already been confirmed to reprise his role as the Russian monster, so we could see the son of Creed take on the son of his father’s killer in the upcoming sequel. WONDER WOMAN 2 IN TROUBLE?

Following the  allegations of sexual harassment against Brett Ratner, Page Six has reported that Gal Gadot will not return for Wonder Woman 2 if the filmmaker’s production company is still involved. However, a Warner Bros. representative has denied the story as “false”, so we’ll see how this one plays out. Read more here.

RETURN OF SUPERMAN

Although they’ve kept him out of all the marketing for the movie, it’s little secret that Henry Cavill is set to return to Justice League as The Man of Steel, and in a new interview the actor has said this will be the first time we see “the true Superman”. He says, “Geoff Johns and I have been delving into the history of the character to get to the core of who Superman is. This is the first time we see the true Superman. The Superman who is confident, and sure, and full of hope and joy.” Read more here.

BLACK WIDOW: THE MOVIE

Since her debut in Iron Man 2, fans have been clamouring for a solo movie for Black Widow. And during a panel at the Supanova Comic Con in Brisbane, Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee told the crowd, “One day there will be a Black Widow movie.” While not a confirmation, it’s a step in the right direction. Read more here.

BUMBLEBEE: THE MOVIE

Someone who is getting a spin-off movie, however, is Transformers star Bumblebee. And thanks to the folks at TFW2005, we’ve got out first look at the logo for the movie. Check it out here.
