Deadline is reporting that Blumhouse Productions has won a bidding war for Invasion, a spec script by John Swetnam (Into the Storm) and Harris Wilkinson (Leprechaun: Origins).
Although plot details are being kept under wraps, it is described as “a ticking clock sci-fi premise with themes that include immigration [and] revolves around a home invasion that happens during an alien invasion.”
Blumhouse is riding high at the moment, following three number one opening weekends in 2017 for Split, Happy Death Day and Get Out – the latter of which also enjoyed Oscar success this past weekend as Jordan Peele was honoured with the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. Next up from the studio is Truth or Dare, which opens on April 13th.
