Blumhouse’s The Exorcist: Believer scares us with three chilling new posters

July 21, 2023 by EJ Moreno

We have our first look at The Exorcist: Believer, and it conjures up feelings of the original classic horror film.

Universal Pictures and Blumhouse have teamed up for a new sequel to 1973’s The Exorcist, which will directly follow the original story and ignore all other sequels. Consider this David Gordon Green’s Halloween but for the demonic possession epic.

Little is known about the project, but the new posters come with the synopsis we got last year. The film follows “Leslie Odom Jr., who will play the father of a possessed child. Desperate for help, he tracks down Chris MacNeil (Ellen Burstyn), who has experience with this situation.”

William Friedkin’s The Exorcist, released in 1973, is one of the most famous horror films of all time. It served as the highest-grossing R-rated horror film for decades and became the first horror film to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture and nine others. The film would win two Oscars: William Peter Blatty won Best Adapted Screenplay, while the sound engineers took Best Sound.

David Gordon Green directs The Exorcist: Believer, with a script from Green and co-writer Peter Sattler. The entire cast includes Burstyn, Odom Jr., Ann Dowd, Lidya Jewett, Olivia Marcum, Raphael Sbarge, Jennifer Nettles, and Okwui Okpokwasili. Check out the posters below…
