Disney-Pixar’s Incredibles 3 is in development with Brad Bird returning

August 10, 2024 by EJ Moreno

Brad Bird knows one thing very well: how to make family superhero entertainment. As the filmmaker preps his new animated film, Ray Gunn, we’ve learned that Bird is returning to the Incredibles world.

The head of Pixar, Pete Docter, closed out his part of the D23 panel by announcing that Incredibles 3 is in the works and that director Brad Bird is returning for a third installment.

Both of the Incredible movies have been big hits for Disney. 2004’s The Incredibles was a box office success and would later win Best Animated Feature and Best Sound Editing at the 77th Academy Awards. 2018’s Incredibles 2 was even more prominent, bringing in an impressive $1.243 billion. At one point, it sat as the highest-grossing animated film of all time until it was recently replaced by this year’s Inside Out 2.

The Incredibles franchise centers on the Parr family, a group of superheroes who must balance their extraordinary abilities with everyday life – Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl, and their children Violet, Dash, and Jack-Jack. The family comes together to fight crime and learn the importance of teamwork and family bonds; they’ve faced off against two big bads in Syndrome and Screenslaver.

At the time of writing, no further details were announced. Stay tuned to Flickering Myth for more news on Disney projects like this.
