Brothers in Arms video game series receiving TV adaptation

May 2, 2020 by Gary Collinson

Gearbox Entertainment’s World War II shooter Brothers in Arms is heading to the small screen, with THR reporting that Scott Rosenbaum (Queen of the South, V, Gang Related) is set to serve as showrunner on a TV series adaptation of the video game franchise.

The series launched in 2005 with the release of the Xbox, PlayStation 2 and PC title Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 was based on true events and followed a group of U.S. paratroopers dropped behind enemy lines on D-Day.

As with the games, the TV show will take its inspiration from real events,  with the first season set to explore Exercise Tiger, a top secret operation which served as a rehearsal for the D-Day invasion, only to go disastrously wrong.

“The story we ended up using has never been dramatized on TV,” said Rosenbaum. “Almost 800 U.S. servicemen were killed and it had to be covered up because the Allies were preparing for the real Normandy invasion. What I liked and hadn’t seen before, is we explore German soldiers and civilians and those in high command on both sides. We meet all these real people and see the effect and the big puzzle.”

According to THR, the producers are actively searching for directors, as well as “an ambitious broadcast partner that shares their big ideas for the show.”
