Chris Columbus developing House of Secrets series for Disney+

September 25, 2021 by Gary Collinson

Home Alone and Harry Potter director Chris Columbus is teaming with Disney+ for a live-action TV series adaptation of House of Secrets, the children’s fantasy book series he co-authored with Ned Vizzini.

As per THR, House of Secrets follows siblings Brendan, Eleanor and Cordelia Walker, who “aren’t pleased when their family relocates to a creepy Victorian house once owned by an occult novelist, Denver Kristoff. By the time the Walkers realize that their new neighbor has sinister plans for them, they’re trapped in the magical house, traveling through the fantastical intertwined universes of Kristoff’s novels.”

“Chris, Michael and Mark tell stories that resonate with multiple audiences, across generations and genres that deliver a sense of magic and wonderment through definitional characters,” said Ayo Davis of Disney Branded Television. “There is so much affinity for their acclaimed films, and we are delighted to be working with them to develop House of Secrets into a thrilling Disney+ series.”

Columbus last found himself behind the camera for Netflix’s The Christmas Chronicles 2, while he is also attached to direct an adaptation of the video game Five Nights at Freddy’s, although that project’s status is currently unclear after it was supposed to shoot this past Spring.
