Chris Pratt announces that Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has started filming

October 22, 2021 by Gary Collinson

Although cameras weren’t expected to begin rolling until November, Chris Pratt has taken to social media to announce the start of production on Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, with the actor posting the following video from day one on the James Gunn-directed threequel, complete with Star-Lord’s sick ass mutton chops.

A special message from @prattprattpratt and his sick-ass mutton chops. Listen to him dissect his #ParksandRec character, Andy Dwyer, on this week's episode of "Parks and Recollection" with @RobLowe and @AlanYang: https://t.co/0ps1aJFd26 pic.twitter.com/wFH7PsxQrD

For a time, it seemed as though Marvel’s plans for a third Guardians movie were at risk of falling through, with Disney firing director James Gunn due to distasteful tweets made years previously.

However, following support from his cast members – and a sojourn to the DC Extended Universe for The Suicide Squad – Gunn is now back on board and reuniting with returning stars Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax the Destroyer), Bradley Cooper (Rocket Raccoon), Vin Diesel (Groot), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Sean Gunn (Kraglin and Rocket Raccoon) and Elizabeth Debecki (Ayesha), while Will Poulter has joined the cast as Adam Warlock.

Unlike the rest of Marvel’s 2022 and 2023 slate, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 escaped the recent MCU release date reshuffle and is slated to open on May 5th 2023.
