Clint Eastwood reportedly ending legendary directing career with 40th film Juror #2

March 30, 2023 by EJ Moreno

Clint Eastwood has done incredible work in the film industry, and we could be approaching a time when the filmmaker steps away from directing.

New reports say Eastwood’s upcoming 40th film, Juror #2, will be his final film. The film will be another collaboration between Warner Bros. and Eastwood, the studio he’s made a home for well over 50 years.

The filmmaker’s last film is a legal drama starring Nicholas Hoult and Toni Collette. Juror #2 will follow a jury member on a murder trial who soon suspects he may have been involved in the victim’s death. This leads him to grapple with the dilemma of coming clean or manipulating the other jurors to save himself.

Many are assuming Hoult will star in the lead role of the juror, while Collette could still land the position and make another landmark performance for her CV. The casting is still developing.

Multiple sources have come forward with this news, including DiscussingFilm and Giant Freakin Robot. There has been no official confirmation from Warner Bros. Discovery or Eastwood. Still, given the filmmaker’s edge and the landmark 40th film, it’s safe to say this is a reasonable stopping point.

The first film from Clint Eastwood was 1971’s Play Misty for Me, while his latest was 2021’s, Cry Macho. Eastwood has not only helmed 40 films but has received Best Director and Best Picture Academy Award wins for both 1992’s Unforgiven and 2004’s Million Dollar Baby. He’s also known for starring in over 70 projects, including Dirty Harry and Pale Rider. There’s no production start date for Juror #2 as yet.
