CM Punk returns, joining All Elite Wrestling

August 21, 2021 by EJ Moreno

After seven years away from the pro-wrestling ring, CM Punk is back. This time, he’s joining a new breed of talent with All Elite Wrestling.

CM Punk, known for his time in WWE and his work in indie horror, left wrestling years ago. After a heated and controversial exit from the industry in 2014, the performer took time to work in the world of MMA and film.

Punk returned to wrestling by kicking off AEW Rampage, the Friday night show for All Elite Wrestling. The “Best In The World” commanded the screen in a roaring return promo with a standing ovation from a hometown crowd. With his first words, Punk showcased his talents as a promo man and a star in wrestling. Mentioning Women’s Champion Britt Baker, recognizing the past seven years, and declaring he’s here to stay…fans and the industry are feeling the insanity.

CM Punk’s promo concluded with a promise to welcome the future of AEW into his world. In the final moments, Punk called out Darby Allin, a young wrestler who has hinted at CM Punk in the past. Darby Allin stared down Punk from the top of the arena and heard Punk challenge him to a match.

When is the match? September 5th at All Out, the next PPV from All Elite Wrestling.

CM Punk is having his first match in seven years in two weeks. Stay tuned for more coverage of this historic wrestling moment.
