Comic Book Review – Star Trek: 50th Anniversary Cover Celebration

August 17, 2016 by Villordsutch

Villordsutch reviews Star Trek: 50th Anniversary Cover Celebration…

Star Trek: 50th Anniversary Cover Celebration issue is a collectors piece.   Anyone who has picked up their IDW Star Trek comic book or looked at it on their eReader and the first thing they’ve said before they even open a page is, “Wow!”, this is for you. However, for you eReaders out there, is something you may want to physically own.

Collected within these 58 pages are a fine selection of past front covers by numerous fantastic Trek artists.  We have perfect covers like Star Trek #55 with Spock looking across Vulcan by J.K. Woodward, John Byrne’s classic The Hollow Crown #1 cover with both Romulans and Klingons separated by both Battle Cruisers and Warbirds and then we have Rachael Stott’s first Star Trek cover with Charlie Kirchoff on colours for the fantastic Star Trek/Planet of the Apes crossover.

These are a mere pinch of some of the perfect pieces of Star Trek art which sit within these Tony Shasteen and J.K. Woodward full crew covers, which you will want to hunt all the variants down!

It’s almost a crime that these pages are not plain backed and cannot be easily removed for framing, as each is a true work of art that most – if not all – Star Trek fans will want a large number of these pieces hanging around their home, even if their partner gives them that look.

You must go out and buy the Star Trek: 50th Anniversary Cover Celebration.  If you don’t you’ll regret it for a very longtime.

Rating: 10/10
