Coming 2 America first look sees the return of Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall

December 17, 2020 by Gary Collinson

Having acquired the long-awaited comedy sequel for distribution back in October in a $125 million deal with Paramount, Amazon has now unveiled three first-look images from Coming 2 America which see the return of Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall as Prince Akeem and his loyal friend and aide Semmi.

UPDATE: And here are four more…

“It’s 30 years later and Prince Akeem is preparing for life as a king,” director Craig Brewer tells Entertainment Weekly about the plot for the sequel. “Without me giving away too much, there’s trouble on the horizon with a neighboring country because of something Akeem did or did not do in the first movie. And he finds out that he has a son in America that he did not know he had. He has three daughters with Lisa and now there’s this blended family that is happening. Prince Akeem now needs to be a king and have children of his own and find out how to rule his kingdom with these old laws. He’s got some problems he’s got to figure out and he’s got a little bit more depth in this particular one. Not to take away from the original, because we never will.

Coming 2 America is set for release on March 5th 2021 and sees the return of Eddie Murphy (Prince Akeem), Arsenio Hall (Semmi), James Earl Jones (King Jaffe Joffer), Shari Headley (Queen Lisa), John Amos (Cleo McDowell), Louie Anderson (Maurice) and the barbershop crew, along with new cast additions Wesley Snipes, Leslie Jones, Tracy Morgan, Jermaine Fowler, Bella Murphy, Rotimi, KiKi Layne, Nomzamo Mbatha and Teyana Taylor.
