The Crow remake gets another director, Luke Evans may be dropping out

December 4, 2014 by Gary Collinson

Relativity Media’s remake of The Crow has picked up a new director, with Deadline revealing that Corin Hardy (The Hallow) has signed on to the project as a replacement for F. Javier Gutiérrez, who vacated the director’s chair in favour of another instalment in The Ring series.

In addition to his feature debut The Hallow, Hardy’s credits include music videos for Ed Sheeran, Biffy Clyro, Keane, Paolo Nutini and The Prodigy.

The reboot of the 1994 adaptation of James O’Barr’s cult comic book has already passed through the hands of directors Stephen Norrington and Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, and with production set to get underway in the Spring, Relativity will surely be hoping that Hardy stays the course.

The Crow will see Luke Evans (The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies) taking on the role of Eric Draven, the character portrayed in the original by Brandon Lee, although it looks like Evans may be next to drop out, with the actor telling DenofGeek:

“It’s not [progressing], no. No at the minute The Crow is not, not for me, I think it’s a little… I mean I’m sure it’s going to go ahead at some point, but I have other projects that are greenlit and ready to go and projects that I’m very interested in and you know, I can’t wait much longer!”
