In the build up to the release of the latest trailer for Spider-Man: Homecoming, some details emerged about Michael Keaton’s villain The Vulture, including the fact that he’s out for revenge after his salvaging company is put out of business due to a new government organisation founded by Tony Stark, which is tasked with cleaning up the mess after superhero battles.
Speculation immediately suggested that Stark’s new company could be Damage Control, and now that has been confirmed by director Jon Watts during an interview with Fandango.
“For me, in thinking about this movie, it just fit in with our overall philosophy with the kind of story we wanted to tell,” said Watts. “In the same way that Peter gives us the ground-level view of what it’s like to be a 15-year-old kid in a New York City that was almost destroyed by aliens before the Avengers showed up. You also wonder after all those huge messes are made, who’s sent in to clean up? Is it the normal people who would be hired to do something like that? Does it become a government operation? Is it dangerous? What do you do with all the alien body parts that you find? I really like asking those practical questions about this world and then using that to drive the story.”

A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Spider-Man: Homecoming sees Tom Holland and Marisa Tomei reprising their roles from Captain America: Civil War as Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Aunt May, alongside Marvel veterans Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark and Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan.
